To get their topic off to a flying start children took part in a ‘Victorian School Day Experience’.
The children were time-warped back to the Victorian period and spent a morning in a Victorian classroom, experiencing a Victorian timetable. This experience was enhanced by asking the children to come to school dressed as a Victorian child.
Children also had a Victorian-style packed lunch, eating foods such as cheese, bread, carrot, apple, a pastry or pie, boiled egg and fruit cake. They were reminded that there was no chocolate, crisps, oranges or bananas during the Victorian period! For authenticity, lunches were placed in a brown paper bag or wrapped in grease proof paper.
